Lol they invited Oliver to Mania.

Hes right about the independent contractor thing. Hes not as right about the wellness stuff.

Punk Cabana and others have chimed in about the story. Cornett called it the most truthful outside piece about wrestling ever.

Hangman Page did too. Hes not in AEW yet right but you have to wonder if their talent will be employees or not?

I guess there might be benefits to the indy contractor thing as far as deducting the travel expenses the WWE has them pay on their own. Youd need a real thorough and transparent accounting to know if “employee” bennys would benefit all the talent, some, the majority..... I really have no idea. I imagine it would hurt some and help others. If you can afford the overhead of health insurance and a good accountant then you probably benefit

Oh really, with the rent-a-cops again?

Yeah, 20 “cops” can’t handle three women wrestlers.

The brawls in the cars were fun though.

Does the DC police not have any guns or tasers?

If they were employees, they could just get reimbursed for travel by the E instead of a tax deduction.

Plus, I think as contractors, they have to pay more Social Security tax as there isn’t an employer share.

Basically, the E has gotten away with an antiquated model based upon the old territory system where the wrestlers were really more independent contractors.

Thinking out loud here, does SAG or any actors union cover reality TV? Probably not? Like the Bellas or anyone else on those things regulalry eligible for that?

I gotta imagine Miz would be eligible for sag insurance with all those movies? Or does wwe films skirt those unions too somehow?

On travel yes wwe would pick up the tab for talent, which could screw with the pay of the guys who opt to travel cheap to take more $$ home. E’s obvs going to cut their pay to make up for it..... they could cut 10k from a guy who only spends 7k bc hes a cheap Owen Hart type (making up those numbers).

They take care of bus and hotel for NXT tho, so clearly it can be done.

On the whole these guys are bloody employees and it should be illegal that theyre not. Im just not 100% sure everyone would get more take home pay if they were

Resisting arrest, assaulting law enforcement, attempted theft of a police car ... they get off easy in DC

Are they really going to have Hawkins and Ryder win the belts in their home area?

I loved the rent a cop brawl especially the back stage part.

Side note they should add a slammy for best attempted homicide thered be 2-3 nominees from that segment alone

It takes a special kind of stupid to put two of them in the same backseat while they're still brawling.
