Wagner was awful all night. Was that really what they diagrammed?

Granted, my day-to-day dealings with Howland were 20-plus years ago at Northern Arizona, but he wasn't that bad at that point. Actually was a pretty decent guy to talk with one on one about fishing, his kids, etc., etc. But I understand egos swell once you jump from the Big Sky to the Big East and taste a little success. I'm not surprised at all that he developed into a prick. Dixon did as well.

Was hoping someone would say this. Many thought Michigan was a vulnerable 1 seed with Livers on the shelf. Hell, a lot of people thought they would struggle to beat LSU in the second round. It's tough to lose a player of that caliber and make it all the way to the Final Four.

Also, kind of fun that UCLA had to win the Michigan state title to get to the Final Four and Gonzaga will have to prove it's the best team in Los Angeles to make it to the final.

One of my saddest memories of sportswriting is a long interview with Jim Calhoun I did at the Phoenix when he was at Northeastern. He told me he looked at coaches at the top of the heap in college basketball and said he never wanted to turn out to be like them. Of course that's exactly what happened.

Not seeing Michigan State, Duke, Carolina and Kansas in these regional finals is like a frigging breath of fresh air.

No. Michigan looked like they showed up to play. They just couldn’t hit anything. Horrific decisions to play hero ball in the final minute.

Throw in the ex-SWC matchup of Baylor and UH.

    TowelWaver and exmediahack like this.

Now if they could just figure out a way to apply this formula to the football championship.

Waking up every morning in Westwood/Brentwood >>>> waking up every morning anyplace in Michigan, Wisconsin, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Maryland or New Jersey.

Kind of funny that with all the upsets in the earlier rounds, we still ended up a Final Four with two No. 1 seeds, a No. 2, and in the other region we were an accurate 3-pointer away from a third No. 1.

Point taken, though, on not seeing the usual teams, although there are a couple (UCLA, Houston) who have a rich history but had fallen off in recent years.
