Pulling the starter in the second inning? Analytics is killing baseball.

Price is still in this series
Rays SS Willy Adames was traded by the Tigers to the Rays in the Price deal
The Tigers traded Price to the Blue Jays the next season for LHPs Matthew Boyd and Daniel Norris
    Adames for Boyd and Norris?
    I’d call that a push

He’s the opener, not the starter. The plan is being followed.

Buck Showalter made a good point on MLB Network yesterday saying never take a starting pitcher from the Rays, because none of them get any better. Price may be an exception to that, but guys like Shields, Garza and Archer were not very good once they joined new teams.

Chris Archer sure disappeared into the Where Are They Now file in a hurry. I think he was hurt this year.

Has anyone written a "scout's take" on the new Arlington yard? Power alleys, baselines etc. I know teams obsess over such details.

The opener is the stupidest fad in baseball. I realize we just had a season that featured runners starting on second in extras. I stand behind my assertion.

    False.
    Davis. Yes.
Shields. No. He was in SD in 2015.

That’s what I get for going on memory
Shields still was very successful for the Royals

I enjoyed when Clayton Kershaw asked if Joe Buck needed to announce the pitching change. Mutual professional respect in display.
