For a while Frankie Stoddard was Ward’s crew chief after Frankie left Roush. I’m pretty sure Bill Davis had to hire an interpreter.

I talked to Todd Bodine once about random sponsorships (he was in the Trucks at the time, so yeah lots of weird ones) and I said my favorite was his old Fiddle Faddle Ford. He laughed and said "you have no idea how much of that stuff we had in the shop."

    Sounds pretty good to me.
Cale Yarborough was involved in some series many years ago that was going to launch as a "league" type deal, but it fell apart before every really starting.

When NASCAR was red-hot and SMI was getting short-shrifted by the Frances (and Fox threw buckets of cash for the rights), there were rumors that Bruton and Co. were tempted to start a parallel stock car league with ESPN's help. It obviously never got off the drawing boards, but it did spawn Legends. Is this a great time to start a racing venture? Not really. But if TV is paying the freight, you've already won half the battle.

    Ah, TRAC.

I see that Evernham is involved and he had some involvement in IROC, so that's a good thing. Running on Saturday nights not opposite Cup races is a smart move. Maybe a bullring in Michigan when Cup is at MIS, somewhere in the Northeast when Cup is at Pocono, etc., and you can siphon off a couple Cup guys.

Kind of reminds me of the all-star race Stewart had (maybe still has?) at Eldora where guys from Cup, IndyCar, even a drag racer or two all ran late models owned by weekend warriors from the area. The first year it was like a Field of Dreams, as so many of those guys had never even been to Eldora but loved it. Place was absolutely packed with fans and it looked great on TV.

I don't hate the special paint jobs for tonight.

I don’t hate the number placement. I thought it’d look horrible.

In other news, Brendan Gaughan tests postive for COVID. (Heir to the South Point casino.)

I just got to the house. Why do the cars look like 88 Mustang 5.0s with neons underneath?
