Three red flags in the last 15 laps.
NASCAR is worse than a basketball game.
    Run the advertised distance.

But there's no manipulation of anything ... nah ...

I thought the 24 Hours of Daytona had already taken place during Speedweeks.

I woke up from a nap at 3:10 Pacific and I think there were a 15 laps left. It’s 4:45 and it’s still not over.

My first race was the 1973 Daytona 500. NASCAR has fallen so far off my radar that if I see the finish of another race this year, it will be on accident.

Did we just watch Ryan Newman die?

If Newman walks away from this one, thank the Earnhardt bar.

Yeah, I didn't realize the door hit was so bad until the replay.
    That wasn't good.

Jesus, that wreck looked awful live, and only got worse on the replay. He got T-boned on the driver's side roof by a guy going probably 170 mph.

That strikes me as not good

Yeah, spun to the wall a bit like Dale Earnhardt and then T-boned right on the driver's side. That looked horrific. Hopefully he's OK and it's one of those that looks worse than it ends up being.

There is literally nothing from NASCAR about it on their social media. Only the broadcast accounts (Fox and Sirius) have issued an update saying that he was "helped from the car and taken to a local hospital".

Maybe I'm used to professional franchise providing a cursory update online when a player leaves a game due to injury, but it just feels odd to have silence from NASCAR itself.
