The looks on the faces of the Fox announcers, especially Gordon's, as they did the sign off, sure implied they feared if did not know the worst.

Watching it live, I was saying out loud to the TV, "put out the fire; put out the fire." The only one good replay showed the hit to the driver's side, and it was horrific.

Gordon definitely looked pretty choked up.

You can see the replays online. The wall hit was bad, but with today's cars, not the worst. The bad part was when it came back on the track and got t-boned.

That's the worst part. If he was OK, they'd have made it a point to say so. When they don't say anything, it speaks volumes about the severity of the situation.

I certainly understand caution and discretion...but when it's nothing at all, not even a relay of what the announcers said, it gives off a very bad vibe.

Such great safety improvements have been made to help the first hit, but that second one, mercy.

The minimal replay by Fox is telling.
The muted announcers and race teams is telling.
The black screen is freaky and something I've never seen outside of a horse track.

    Hopefully it's all just precautionary.

I was worried for a second, too, that the car might explode or burn before they could even get to him. There was fuel gushing out of that thing right into an open flame.

Whoever runs Nascar's Twitter feed might want to take down the post asking fans to RT for Hamlin's win, with a GIF of Hamlin doing donuts in the infield.
