    I figured that. But then they also were obviously using alternative names for some of the countries, for example, some of the A countries, came after the As finished

    Like Austria and Australia? That's also down to the alphabet, which is based off syllables rather than letters. The way those names are transliterated in Japanese starts with an "oh" sound -- Ōsutoria and Ōsutoraria -- and since the order starts A ("ah") I ("ee") U ("oo") E ("eh") O ("oh"), they come after countries whose names start with those other sounds, like Italy, Uruguay, and Egypt.

    Naomi Osaka to light the torch. Boy, it'd sure have been interesting to be in that board room as the Japanese officials weighed the reaction this decision would get from Clay Travis and Jason Whitlock. Brave decision to go forward. ;)
