Pushing to 2022 -- heck, both Olympics used to be in the same calendar year -- is the logical move. However, NBC is screwed if that occurs, because they've gone all-in in shutting down all their sports networks after the Olympics.

The IOC's definitely not going to want to give back a penny of the TV revenue. And NBC's definitely not going to want to discount ad buys.

    So Tokyo be damned.

The reason the IOC has to be now or never is that postponing the Olympics already cost $2.8B in additional money, not to mention the disruptions to world championships and other events on the international sports calendar. Also, I'm guessing they need that sweet NBC money sooner rather than later.

Hell of a putt in Eugene Friday - but I think I'll wait until the labs come back to know if a "taco truck" is responsible.

As many of you know, I am all about the Olympics. But I've got to say I am already tired of Simone Biles.

I wonder how much stuff that NBC had "in the can" from a year ago they'll still be able to use. Their features people had to be about three or four months in (at least) when the lockdown hit.

The piece they used last night for Allyson Felix was pretty damn good.

I was tolerating the Simone-in-every-single-commercial-break thing, what with her appearing in Olympics promos and pitching credit cards, Uber Eats and God knows what else.

But what broke me was the promos got the upcoming “docuseries” about her, with her reminding us at the end that more videos are available on Facebook.
