Leslie Jones is back, and she picked a good night, because the track trials was full of "What the fuck?" events tonight, including women's shot, women's hammer, some 400 hurdles wipeouts, and this. As soon as I saw she was doing her thing, I was looking forward to her reaction to the water jump. Didn't disappoint.

A lot of crash-and-burns tonight but none more disappointing to me than Squirrel Burrell in the 400 hurdles. I was really looking forward to seeing him go up against the big dogs in Tokyo.

World record near miss tonight for Rai Benjamin in the 400 hurdles.

One of the good things about the US barring gymnasts under 16 from the Olympics is that it is less likely someone who would have made the squad last year suddenly experiences a growth spurt and misses out because of the year delay. Most of women's gymnasts these days are pretty much as tall as they are going to get at 16.

Gabby Thomas is beautiful and talented, so she’ll get the full NBC treatment.

That image says so much and not all of it was entirely what she meant for it to say. The YGTBFKM look on her face while standing behind two White women is everything

    WOW

Sydney McLaughlin ran down world record holder Dalilah Muhammad to demolish the record in the women's 400 hurdles -- 51.90. First woman ever to break 52 seconds.

The LSU kid, JuVaughn Harrison, qualified to become the first American to compete in the high jump and long jump in the same Olympics since some guy named Thorpe in 1912.

And 17-year-old Erriyon Knighton finished third in the 200 to become the youngest American track and field Olympan since Jim Ryun in 1964.

Congratulations to Brooke Forde, and to the entire Forde family.
