Women should do a decathlon not a heptathlon

BTW, Bruce's daughter finished 31st, thus sparing us a middle-aged white sportswriter implosion.

Alexandra Bell of Great Britain in the women's 800? That's an Olympic gold medal name. Glad she didn't phone it in.

Belgian dude slipped on the long jump board during the decathlon. It was ugly.

I've been kind of surprised there has not been more reaction/response to Biles returning to compete in the balance beam, and in these Olympics.

I know I did not expect it, and I'd be interested to know why she decided to come back, and how it was handled. What changed for her in a few days' time? Wasn't she afraid of the twisties? (I wondered about this especially after hearing Tim Daggett say that the balance beam is where the twisties most often occur).

That said, the bronze medal performance may have been special to Biles, but the nicest thing about it was her smile at the end of the routine. It was by far the biggest smile (and maybe even the only one) that I've ever seen on her while she's been in competition.

definitely would be a lot of stories on someone ranked 14th who finished 31st if she didn't have that last name

Jessica Springsteen is far more than The Boss' daughter

I read one story where a gymnast said that getting over them requires rebuilding the foundation. When she had the twisties, she would start doing simple backrolls like a toddler in a gymboree class and start adding to it.

To be fair, in that family they're probably not used to performances of less than three hours.
