Is the ACC network being picked up by Boston area cable systems? If the ACC network is picking up monthly subscriber fees the ratings are not particularly important, at least in the short term.

The ACC Network is available on my FiOS system, but it's on an upper tier, so I don't think the subscriber fees can be that lucrative.

Might or mght not. Money and the big name is often how competitors at that level keep score.

George Mason lands 32-year-old Tennessee assistant Kim English as head coach. From Baltimore, played at Mizzou.

Moser and his wife bought their $2.5 million North Shore mansion from Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts. So yeah, they don't seem to be hurting for money:

Loyola men’s basketball coach Porter Moser buys Tom Ricketts' Wilmette mansion for $2.5 million

Moser made about $1.1 million in salary in 2018-19, the most recent year I could find. That's probably near or at the top of the Valley but -- based on the USA Today database that comes out every year -- would be mid-pack in a conference like the A10. He'd obviously get a huge bump with a P5 job -- he reportedly turned down $2 million/year from St. John's in 2019 -- but he also doesn't seem like he's driven by money.

As for his wife's alleged riches, there's really nothing out there that suggests she's wealthy (though I admit my search was limited to Google). I did find something that described Porter's late father as a "philanthropist and developer" in suburban Chicago, which might suggest some family money, and something else that said Porter met his wife at a bar in College Station where she was serving drinks in some capacity.

Porter also seems to truly, deeply love living in Chicago, and his oldest kid is a walk-on on the Loyola women's basketball team while the others still are teenagers. Maybe he just doesn't want to move? Maybe he's waiting for Northwestern to finally become the latest to realize that the Coach K tree isn't exactly strong? Who knows.

Kind of, and I think that's the thinking with a lot of the basketball alignment stuff, but in practice I don't really think it matters much. Like I've always heard that the A-10 likes having Fordham in the league because then they have a team in NYC, except nobody in NYC gives a shit about Fordham. And, SEC football is probably the most watched conference every week by far, even though the geographic footprint isn't huge. Same with Premier League showcases being on NBC, vs. MLS being on non-prime ESPN time slots. Ultimately, I think quality is what a viewer wants.

I’m amazed any NYC school besides St. John’s is able to find a decent conference home. Like you said they bring no fan base to the table, plus it has to be one of if not the most expensive road trip of the year.

Fordham would be a mid-level team in the MAAC. They have no business playing in the A-10.

It’ll never happen because of geography, but I would love to see Gonzaga in the Big East.

The theory is all that matters. If it means the ACC Network is available on lower tiers of service, then all is well.
Hence Rutgers and Maryland in the Big Ten.

Hawaii's trips to San Jose are almost as long as Gonzaga's would be to NYC. But, no, it won't happen. Just underscores how absurdly difficult it must be to win in anything at Hawaii.

Yeah those Gonzaga-Georgetown baseball, volleyball and softball series would be epic.
