I wonder if Steve Robinson leaves with Roy or if he stays to assist in the transition. He was an assistant when I was at Cornell and it was just crazy that he went from being a soft spoken no. 2 assistant there to Kansas and has had a pretty good career. He was literally the strongest person I ever played pickup against — he was like the Wes Unseld of Ithaca.

Hubert Davis checks a lot of boxes: 13 seasons of NBA experience, a former UNC player and longtime UNC assistant.

I also feel like McNamara will be the guy once Boeheim steps away in a few years. He's been on that staff forever now and doesn't have the stigma that Hopkins has after not doing all that great at Washington. Cuse fans will wholeheartedly approve and keep filling the Dome so long as they don't completely fall off the map.

And that's assuming Hopkins would return if he was asked. Making good bank and waking up every day in Bellevue, Issaquah or some other eastside suburb beats the crap out of waking up to a foot of snow in Syracuse.

If Hubert takes over, it's a non-issue ... cannot see Davis tossing anyone. If Wes Miller, for example, takes over, who would he bring from Greensboro and who from Roy's staff stays put?

Curious to see how Bubba kicks the tires. There are calls he must place, and there are others that the family will claim are requirements.

Take the family issues out of it, and calling Danny Ainge to ask about Brad Stevens becomes an absolute must.

Maybe four more seasons to get to 50 for his career?

NBA coaching seems to be a better gig - no recruiting, little re-recruiting, time off in the summer to recharge, good money, good place to live. College coaching is a 12-24-7 existence and the transfer portal adds to the workload.

In college the coach is in charge. In the NBA, he's not.

Massive tradeoff. NBA coaches aren't 24-7-365, but the moment a star player or the core of the team or management decide you're not it ... you're usually gone.

The college coach is the maestro and pulls the strings ... but it's a much more of a grind. Games, practices, off-season workouts ... and lots and lots of recruiting. But keep winning, keep your players off the police blotter and, hopefully, away from academic trouble and it's not up to the star player or two whether or not you have your job.

Watched every second of Roy's news conference. I thought it was pretty powerful. I think Roy is worried about his mind, especially after watching Dean decline, and still, what might happen to him without coaching to keep it sharp. Yet, realizing too that he can't do it anymore.
