Wow. I did not know that.

Re: Pitino, this would be the time to get him.
When the UNLV gig came open in 1992 and 19955, Pitino was winning big at Kentucky, where he would win the title in 1996.
In 2001, University-6 was open at the same time as UNLV. He went to University-6.
In 2004, 2011 and 2016, he was still at University-6.

Interesting, because the Virginia schools are off the board here. I can’t even throw a sawbuck on Longwood to beat Gardner-Webb

The Athletic just wrote a story (paywalled) about Cincinnati players' considerable discontent with John Bannen, who just finished his second season on the job. Seven expats so far. No serious allegations about mistreatment, but is this enough to compel his execution if it's gonna cost them $5.25 million?

UNLV needs a coach that will stay longer than a few years

Not happening now that it's a steppingstone program.

Coach K's coaching tree hasn't really distinguished itself. Life is tougher when you get outside of Cameron and have to play 5x5 instead of 8x5.

If any substantial action came in on Mountain West, people would notice. Fast.

Legalized gambling, at least in Las Vegas, does a swift job of detecting when action seems a little... "off"... in college sports.

Announcing it by press release while tournament games are going on? They really don't care, do they?

Gonna be interesting to see Porter Moser's name bandied about again. He's unleashing another great story, but he has made only two NCAA tourney appearances in 17 years as a head coach.
From his perspective, why subject yourself to the pressures of Indiana, for example?

Because you're 52, get a chance to show your stuff in a great conference and the basement for your negotiations is the 7 year, 24 million deal your predecessor got, which would be 2.5 mil per year more than you make now?
