Scott Kazmir was four months from being on the next Hall of Fame Ballot before starting today

Good for them. In the fall of 1999, eight months after the shooting, Columbine won the Colorado high school football state championship.

Tie atop the NL West again after Dodgers beat Giants again, both 28-18.

Just heard on the White Sox broadcast that Dallas Keuchel spent $25 grand taking a bunch of team workers out to dinner. Impressive.

Then I did some math, he makes $18.5 million a year, so that was equivalent of me spending $35-$40 at the height of my journalism earnings.

Still, a nice thing to do. Kuchar could hire five caddies for that money.

Padres have a one game lead.

Way too soon Hot take: the second and third best teams in the NL will be playing in the wild card round. And they’ll both be from the same division. (Assuming the Giants don’t get hurt more and revert to the near .500 team they were supposed to be.)

You're right. I guess they play baseball in the Diego too.

With Scioscia managing, I was expecting Jeff Mathis to be on the roster

LOL. 10 years ago, that team would have been ... bang average.

What a strange, strange career he has had. More like a boxing career than a baseball career.

A game I often play is how many active players are left from the video game MVP 2005. Pujols, Kazmir, Ollie Perez (until recently) and Greinke are the ones that I can remember right now.

Ooh, Yadier Molina and Miggy Cabrera, too.

Man. That 1997 Cy Young race was insane in both leagues. In ANY OTHER YEAR, the runners-up would have been no-brainer Cy Youngs.

    WAR
    1 Roger Clemens TOR 11.9 21-7 2.05 264.0 68 292 1.030
    2 Randy Johnson SEA 8.0 20-4 2.28 213.0 77 291 1.052

    1 Pedro Martinez MON 9.0 17-8 1.90 241.1 67 305 0.932
    2 Greg Maddux ATL 7.8 19-4 2.20 232.2 20 177 0.946

Six of Maddux's 20(!) walks in 232.2 innings were intentional! /Tim_Kurkjian_voice

If Randy Johnson had made 4 more starts to match everyone else and those starts were his season average, he would have deserved it over Clemens.
