As a fan, I’m okay with it. Wanted Spiders, but understand the continuity.

That G logo with wings is 1990s Anaheim Angels-esque, though. That is not a good thing.

If they sell enough merchandise, no one will care.

Are they still gonna sell Indians stuff next year? If not, somebody's gonna make a killing with unlicensed apparel.

Alternate caps with the heads of those guardian statues as the logo would be cool.

It’s going to be so weird to be in a stadium where almost no one is wearing the gear of the team playing.

Indians fans are already in a fandom arrested development that stopped in 1995. You’re more likely to see a Rick Vaughn, Lofton, Thome or Vizquel jersey than you are anyone other than Lindor…who also doesn’t play in Cleveland anymore.

I did notice the guardian statues are on the Hope Memorial Bridge. So Cleveland really is the place where hope went to die.

I have! It was me and 6,000 other Indians fans and one Rays fan who screamed his lungs out behind the plate and annoyed all of us.

Russell Branyan (Remember that guy!) homered.

Go Team That Ruined Ryan Merritt’s Career!

Oh wait, that was just Tito alone.

The Rich Hill trade is fascinating. A contender is trading a reliable starting pitcher in mid-pennant race. And is doing so in order to improve.

They're the Rays, always two moves ahead. Hill's arm might fall off this weekend, or they see how he's been trending down since the sticky stuff started getting checked. Of course, Hill throwing slop with his right arm would still be better than the Mets' back-end options at the moment.

Great points. I had not considered that.

They should rename the team the Rayplaceables, because about everyone on that team is. Hill is, what, 41? And he barely makes it through five innings anymore. Rays have a dozen guys who can do what he does, at a much lower salary. Mets were desperate.

The latter is why the Mets did it. Even as bad as Hill has been lately, he's better than some of their current options. Hill has been pitching poorly since June 12, though most of those outings have been kinda crappy rather than outright terrible.
