Less than a year after winning the World Series, the Dodgers are trading their top two prospects for two rentals. Gonna guess that hasn't happened too often lately.
Turner is a refusenik in multiple areas: Won't get vaccinated and has indicated he won't sign long-term with one of those damned Left Coastal teams.

Now batting .247 after being at .199 on June 13.

Yeah, we’ll, Turner is under contract through next season. And if the Dodgers decide to back a dump truck full of money into his driveway …

They don’t want to see the Giants win it and they damn well might unless the Dodgers can keep up this pace

Trying to figure out which trade gets bigger play on the LA sports section - but then, that thinking is so 20 years ago.

I'd guess the Dodgers have made a calculated judgment that they don't expect Bauer back this season if at all.

Gray was called up a little over a week ago. Ruiz has been up briefly, but he had been stuck behind Will Smith with the Dodgers. He has no such roadblock with the Nationals. The other pitcher, Carillo, is in AA.

Turner may be stuck moving over to second base because the Dodgers are also about to get Seager back from the IL. That pushes Muncy back to first base and likely ends the experiment with putting Bellinger back at first to lessen the risk of aggravating his troublesome hamstring. Scherzer makes more sense for a team that has taken quite a few hits to the starting rotation.

But hey, the Padres did get Daniel Hudson from the Nationals.

By the way, I saw the speculation that Scherzer vetoed a trade to the Padres. Maybe that deal just wasn't as far along as initially reported.

Waste your summer praying in vain for a savior to rise from these streets.
