I don't buy this excuse at all. "Hey, you, wetback!" doesn't sound anything like "Hey, you, Dinger..."

Maybe the guy said Dinger, maybe he didn’t. As someone who tries to assume the best about people until proven otherwise, I can accept the possibility (probability?) that he was calling to the mascot.

But when I hear that clip, I can certainly understand why Brinson thought he was saying the other word. it sure does sound like it to me, even after hearing the explanation.

 

You are right about this, I forgot about that proposal.

With all the young talent they developed they couldn't really develop any starting pitchers, and then the moves for Quintana, Darvish and Hamels and others didn't work out.
