That was even early on, in 2004 or 2005. I remember the stories about how they had to reshoot the ending when the Red Sox finally won the World Series, and how pissed off Red Sox fans were because they actually shot it on the field at the end of Game 4.

It will be amusing to see how MLB squeezes every ounce out of this 'til it's dry. Hearing on the broadcast about what tickets went for, I wouldn't be surprised if the intimate ballpark became a little less so in the future.

Tix were generally $1,100-$1,900 from what I saw on StubHub. Almost bought a pair, but couldn’t make it work schedule-wise.

I don't think it's a lack of baseball interest. Even football isn't getting much love on the big screen. The last major release was Concussion about how much the NFL tried to cover up concussions. The only other big screen releases in the last 10 years (that weren't documentaries or little things on cable) were Draft Day (barely broke even), the De La Salle movie that made earned $30m with a $15m budget. The Blind Side was the last successful football movie in 2009.

When was the last movie that wasn’t anything besides comic book characters?

Can I interest you in a Vin Diesel franchise featuring fast cars doing cartoonish stunts?

Speaking of The Rookie, I was reading something on Jim Morris a while back. He didn’t fully go into detail, but the strong hint was that he ended his baseball career to take care of his kids because his wife was being abusive in some way. They ended up getting divorced, he remarried, and has been dealing with multiple health problems, including painkiller addiction.

Life’s not always a Disney fairytale.

It was for a Mitch story, when he took his buddies Joe, Steve and Barry to Tiger Stadium

Not a Wings fan, but that pic reminded me that Yzerman's slapper over Casey's shoulder is still the greatest goal I've ever seen.
