    That was not the exchange.

I don't know what kind of endorsement contracts Bauer has, but essentially you can bet they're all shitcanned on grounds of general morals (assuming he's acquitted of the assault charges). Unless the agent demanded such clauses be stricken, which will set off a wild stampede among advertisers to make sure they're included in all contracts-- or make it public when agents demand their removal.

Thanks. I hadn't seen that. I was just going off what I knew the hearing was about.

I know plenty, and I am genuinely pleased at your reversal in this area. Congrats.

Ok. You told an Asian-American poster with personal experience this…

    After he said this

But please tell me again that it wasn’t the exchange.

Your act is so tired, with the quote one sentence without any context thing and then tell me what I said.

What I said (but you didn't quote) was "This wasn't a kid with the intent to be mean to another kid because of his race. It was an unfunny attempt at imitating the accent of a Japanese native speaking English. We're pretty much at the point where you can't even acknowledge any difference between people -- we're not talking about making racist or derogatory comments -- without that acknowledgment equating to a slur. Intent and context do matter."

He called it a slur. A slur has derogatory intent. My original post (what he was responding to) was in response to someone asking was this like what Thom Brennaman did, and I said not even close. Thom Brennaman made an ACTUAL homophobic slur. This was not a slur.

In your post, you said I told him it wasn't offensive. I never said anything like that. That was NOT the exchange. I never told him what to be offended by.

What I said is that his offense does not make it a racial slur.

You said I mansplained something to him. I didn't do that, whatever you mean by it, given that I thought I was talking to another man.

People are offended by lots of things. Your offense at something isn't the arbiter of anything except you being offended.

I quote one sentence because it is the offending sentence. It’s only out of context if that sentence was made in sarcasm or to demonstrate an example of something. It wasn’t. You meant it as your thesis for why using a stereotypical accent isn’t offensive or why people, particularly those from Asian backgrounds, should not be offended. The rest of your statement furthered that line of thinking and I didn’t need it to make my point. You can’t forever hide behind long posts. Sometimes things within that post need to be clarified or walked back. In this case, that sentence really needed to be walked back and the rest of what you said doesn’t excuse it.

As for the mansplain comment, I said that to drive home what you did. Not that I thought you were talking down to a woman but rather you were trying to minimize someone’s experience and explain to someone who knows full well the power of a White man using that voice and what it historically has been intended.

My act may be old and sure I get on my high horse too much from time to time. The pandemic made it worse. I’ll own that just like I’ll own the fact that I’m my life I have said things or defended things that I wish I hadn’t. Too many of them have been posted here. But I learn or at least try to and when someone calls out one of those sentences, I evaluate what I said and will admit I’m wrong or at least rephrase. I wish there are some things I’ve said in real life that I could rephrase.

But here you really need to look at what you said and how it came off. I’ll drop it because my peace has been said but seriously. You can’t minimize an action with racial undertones used to marginalize a people in the name of humor as an inconvenience or just a joke that wasn’t found funny. This isn’t someone getting mad because a person claimed Godfather II is not as good as the first. This is someone who said that tone has a history that can’t be dismissed.

I promise not to make this personal or start a vendetta. This was just something I couldn’t believe was actually written here.

With that, I’ll leave it alone. Just please consider you may not be in the right here and even if you didn’t find something offensive doesn’t make you the moderator of what people can and cannot find offensive.

It isn't a reversal of anything. And it didn't come from any sort of injunctive measure by you.

If you 'know plenty' then come to my house and tell me what you know and let's talk about it. You'll need to be vaccinated though.
