Caps and Penguins seem to be in similar spots right now -- trying to fill in the blanks around a couple of aging superstars while dealing with subpar goaltending. It's not a good recipe. Not sure of the Penguins' draft pick situation, they may be in better shape than Washington there.

Caps have picks in rounds 2-6
Penguins have picks in rounds 2,5,7

Rangers have a 1 percent chance at the number 1 overall. I like the odds.

Thanks, so not a whole lot better. Honestly, the Caps' fortunes are completely tied to whether or not Kuznetsov gets his shit together. He's been pretty much total shite since the Cup run. Good piece from Svrluga today in the Post with a great McLellan quote from when Kuznetsov signed the long-term deal. "If he's good, I'm good. If he's not, nice knowing you guys."

If there was a teen superstar on the board, they’d be a shoo-in.

    Ah the horseshit conspiracies.

    I was 2-for-2 last year:
-- League finagles a way to get the Rangers into the playoffs.
-- Rangers "win" the draft lottery.

Both prediction were made in advance of the events. Lucky guesses, I suppose.

    That’s all they were.

So tell us oh wise one, what is the conspiracy this year?

I'm sure one will arise. Let's wait and see which team the refs help get to the Final.

A 2-on-0 in the first minute of overtime is pretty novel, even for the Leafs.
