Colorado just isn’t committed to football. Hell, even Oregon State is more committed now. This is buying a lottery ticket for $5M in the hopes it’ll work out.

    You’re probably right.

Correct. Colorado is a Patagonia and pot school rather than someplace like Nebraska where it is all football all the time. I must admit that I find it difficult to argue that college football is a better choice than mountains and marijuana.

Imagine Boulderites would be more excited if it was Bernie Sanders instead of Deion.

Colorado really should just be in the Mountain West now because they’re lack of commitment.

Georgia Tech should’ve at least made a phone call to Sanders’ people. I know they settled on Key, but wouldn’t Sanders bring some attention to the program? Are the academic standards a turnoff? Not able to get some kids into the program?

The academic standards are an enormous hurdle at Georgia Tech. Deion would not be a fit there at all and I think both sides knew that.

Better to take over a program at absolute rock bottom and with no recent past glories for the fan base (if Colorado has one) to compare you to. Sanders chose well in that regard.

There will be more media at his introductory news conference than have ever been at a Colorado event. The Buffs have already won round 1. Now let's see how many players he brings with him, if he can flip kids for the Dec/Feb signing periods, and how many special admits the CU admissions people will give him.

CU opens at TCU next year, they should send CU a huge thank you card for selling 10K more tickets to what was a horrible opener until yesterday. It's then home with Nebraska and CSU. Those tickets will be impossible to come by.

I can hardly wait until coach Prime comes to Microville, it will be great. And even as a visiting coach he'll be the biggest thing to hit Microville, Pullman, Eugene, Tucson and any other Pac-12 stop outside of LA in a decade.

Who knows how CU's future schedules will change with the LA schools leaving, and possible expansion, but their future OOCs are pretty ambitious, especially for a team that already plays nine conference games. Not many cupcakes over the next decade, except for Colgate and UMass. Not doing coach Prime any favors, for sure.

My understanding is that Colorado will loosen their transfer requirements. Currently it hard for Colorado to get transfers in unless they are freshmen or grad transfers. I listened to a podcast and the way it was explained was that Colorado requires transfers to be on a degree path. The school is going to change that by creating something like an independent studies major where a transfer with an "unstructured" transcript can be placed and hence anyone can be admitted. This is especially important at Colorado because the school no longer has a P.E. major. I doubt Deion goes to Colorado unless those changes are made.

I listened to the Cover 3 podcast and they made the point that any school that does not loosen eligibility for transfers in the age of the portal are committing football suicide. Stanford and Cal were specifically mentioned but I wonder if Northwestern, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt and similar schools will be affected.
