I have an aunt and uncle who have a home in Punta Gorda. They’re out of the country at the moment and that’s probably best, because it’s looking like anything that happens will be nothing they can affect anyways.

I’ve got relatives riding it out at home in a mandatory evacuation zone in Nokomis. They moved to FL two years ago and haven’t been through this before. I suspect they think evacuating is “weak.” We’ll see what happens.

Yeah, I was just watching those two idiots. They are going to get slammed into the concrete pier.

I think the people holding their beer will be holding their memorials as well.

There are no bad kids. Only bad parents.

Just like when you play a country song backwards. You get your girl back, the dog is resurrected and your truck runs again.

Checking in from Naples. Maybe 50 mph gusts outside Casa RB, with intense rain squalls coming and going -- but it looks like we are past the non-storm surge worst of it. Casa RB is maybe 20 miles inland, too, so surge isn't an issue. Naples proper, OTOH, lays awfully low.

Tornado warnings were flying fast and furious last night. By the looks of it, Sanibel/Captiva, Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte/North Port are gonna gets smacked around pretty good in the next 6-12 hours.
