No kidding. I mean, they were "off" by what, 80 miles? Maybe 60? An exact forecast on these things has happened almost never. It's a forecast. It's what we *think* will happen. What is *likely." Not *this exactly will happen."

I'd say with a big boy storm like this, other variables in the Gulf, the fact it was going to ride up the west coast -- the worst side to be on -- and it cut in earlier, that should be a better-case scenario than if this thing made the turn and made landfall in Clearwater instead of Cayo Costa.

Sheesh, the TB Times used to be better than that. Namely before it was the TB Times.

Missing by 60-80 miles is damn good in a 3-5 day projection.

But they had Tampa getting slammed as little as 30 hours out. That's not so hot. And they admitted there was a problem with disagreeing models.

It looks terrified, washed up somewhere it didn't want to be.

Gettin’ pounded pretty good right now. I can tell by the streetlights the rain is nearly horizontal. The wind is steady in the 60s or 70s; I can’t imagine it’s even possible to blow twice as hard.

Raining pretty hard and the wind started kicking up after sunset. This storm keeps bending south to the point that now the eye is going to miss us, I think (and hope).

Still over land at 5 a.m. Sent back down to the storm minors.
