Yeah ... but I'm not sure I'd say that out loud. Could always alter course and concern me at a level even Susan Collins would admire.

Still, the stuff coming out of Naples is devastating. Worse, have a colleague who works out of that area who didn't check in this morning. Hope she and others found safe shelter.

Tropical storm wind circumference of this thing sure seems enormous.

When I got a direct hit from Wilma, it was a 3-4-hour event, then blue skies (and scattered roof tiles). This is a 36-48-hour event for many people.

There’s a reporter in Orlando who’s at least in her 60s who was reporting in Daytona Beach standing in a driving rainstorm on a patterned sidewalk with heels

Yeah, I lost their weather radar at some point after landfall and just assumed they went dark.

Wow, I love Sanibel. With that storm surge the place we stayed for several family reunions out on West Gulf is probably destroyed.

My SIL's brother sold his place on Sanibel last year and moved to North Carolina. He's lucky. He had a place in the Bahamas that got wiped out several years ago.

She's fine ... lost power, but not affected by flooding/storm surge. Word has it her biggest complaint is no A/C. Under the circumstances, probably the best-case scenario.

Sanibel was so peaceful that it could almost melt away the stress of having to be in Lee County. Almost.

Mornin', y'all. Somehow the power, cable TV and Internet are all still on. Haven't tried the stove yet.

It's raining. A lot. And the wind is blowing. Also a lot.

Minor flooding in my bedroom, but that's OK because the carpet's due for replacement anyway. TV station below is talking about a once-in-500-years flooding event.

This thing is going through here like a turtle. Should stop raining tomorrow sometime.

Claire Metz lives in Daytona Beach, and I think she retired once already.

It's going to take most of the day today for the water to recede enough to see what's not there anymore. I fear there were a lot of people who wouldn't/couldn't/didn't get out. And seeing videos of the amount of damage to permanent structures, there have to be tens of thousands of mobile homes destroyed in Lee County alone.

My brother and parents in Brevard County are getting gusts up to 50 mph right now but not much in the way of rain.
