Maryland has a history of having athletic directors who can’t think beyond today. Yow, Anderson and Evans, a loop of average, medium, unimaginative apparatchiks

I wouldn't be surprised if Kenny Lofton, Jr. follows him to Tulsa.

The more that I consider it, the more that I think the Maryland job isn't as great as many think. Not only does the athletic department have a consistent record of incompetence (no matter who's in charge), but it's a program that's a geographic and cultural misfit in its own conference, one that's stuck in a long-term deal with a flagging sneaker company (Under Armour) and one without a modern practice facility (at least compared with its peers). So maybe it's not a surprise that they whiffed on bigger names and had to settle for Willard, a hire that doesn't seem to excite anyone.

    And Fred Willard is dead.

("Well, then cross him off the list!")

No surprise that they whiffed. They didn’t need to settle as badly as they did.

Maryland is great for the Big Ten. The Big Ten brings Maryland almost nothing except cash.

Negative. Lofton has announced for the NBA. His four step Euro game is a better fit there anyhow, even if the refs didn't call it nearly as often as they should have.

Mark Schmidt of St. Bonaventure reportedly headed for UMass after the NIT. He's done a great job there. He from Massachusetts, played at BC.

Interim label removed after an awful season following the stink of Mark Gottfried.

This line from the school press release made me laugh: Prior to the season, CSUN was unanimously selected to finish in last place in the Big West by the league's head coaches and members of the media, but the Matadors defied those expectations, finishing eighth in the conference standings while dealing with a multitude of injuries.

Defied expectations? They were 3-13 (7-23 overall) and finished ahead of two 2-12 teams.
