How many weeks will pass before the MJF momentum is botched? Its kinda getting into yikes territory isnt it?

Nah. Just like whenever Kenny Omega comes back from his injury layoff, he'll get a huge reaction whenever (if ever) he returns.

Especially if they do it in the right market -- perhaps, the next Arthur Ashe show in September.

Agreed, just a mess. Gratuitous violence for the sake of it, there was no real point to it and the shark cage thing was laughably bad.

Is there any indication this is actually a Pillmanesque work? Everything I keep reading says nobody has any idea if that's case, or if it's a genuine falling out.

The MJF thing is definitely a work — they wouldn’t have given him a live mic on teevee if it wasn’t.

My guess is he would’ve already come back if Punk hadn’t gotten hurt. Now they’re biding their time until he comes back and unifies the title.

So Luchasaurus turned heel for a couple weeks and now he's gone back to being a face and teaming up with Jungle Boy?

I had high hopes for him with Christian, who cut some awesome promos, I think he could use a good singles run, just seems underused as a tag team guy.

I think MJF is a work, but its been 7 weeks and there’s diminishing returns the longer this goes. His promo captured the attention of a lot of fans outside the aew/wrestling bubble….. America’s attention span is very short right now. People have moved on.

The fact that he’s not back yet is making me wonder if its not a work after all

I think they could've prolonged it a few more weeks. Have Luchasaurus in Christian's corner for the match vs. Jungle Boy, then do the turn.

I do wonder if Luchasaurus standing by Jungle Boy's side last night was actually leading to a double-cross against JB.

Yeah I wondered the same thing since this seemed like a pretty good angle they were cutting short pretty quickly.

The total blackout from both sides is what makes me think it might be legit. MJF hasn't tweeted anything since May 27 and as far as I've seen hasn't done any interviews. On the AEW side, I don't think he's been referenced on Dynamite other than a couple of passing mentions during Wardlow's matches. There aren't even any hints, real or worked, one way or the other. No stories of side projects MJF is doing, no cryptic Twitter potshots, no seemingly random segments or references on TV that people can read way too much into. That kind of smacks of some legal wrangling behind the scenes where both sides are trying to find a way out of the contract and they don't want to say anything.

If it’s a shoot, Khan has generational wealth behind him. He can pay MJF to sit at home for two years with what he finds in his proverbial couch cushions. And given the short attention spans these days, will MJF still be a big draw in Jan. 2025 after being sidelined for two-plus years?

That's a question MJF should be asking himself as well, which means it's the leverage Tony Khan has on him.
Tony Khan has a thriving wrestling promotion with a couple dozen excellent performers. MJF only has one excellent performer.
Khan is doing the equivalent of an NFL team benching someone on a team-friendly rookie contract. MJF is wasting not necessarily a couple of prime earning years, since his contract probably isn't huge, but the time when he should be creating his market value and driving up his price.
Hope he thinks it was worth it when he's toiling away as Fredrick Jackson Maximus in NXT 4.0 in 2026.
