That's not always true for entertainment / sports contracts, though, depending on what MJF has written in his. While it's rare, some can have "out" clauses when it comes to usage. WWE contracts actually extend if you're injured - i.e. if they pay you for 3 months of an injury, then they reserve the right to extend your contract by 3 months as long as they keep paying you that rate - although that hasn't been challenged in court or anything.

Also - If AEW really did just sit MJF for two whole years, then he would absolutely be a huge effin' deal the second he showed up in WWE, precisely because that's the kind of thing WWE is still really smart about leveraging and promoting. We'd get a surprise appearance and he would be built as the guy TOO DANGEROUS or TOO INTENSE, etc., for AEW!

I am a huge MJF fan and I was happy to see him off TV for a while, I thought he was getting too much heat if that makes any sense, but the complete radio silence from him, a guy who was so active on social media, has me also wondering if this is legit.

I can’t even comprehend being so angry that I’d voluntarily sit out two healthy years in my prime.

Something we can hopefully ALL agree on -- this is so glorious.

I’ve become a serious FTR mark the past couple of years. This? This just makes me happy I am.

I have a 9-year-old boy who overcame his own health issues, so Dax's promo got me more than just being a wrestling message.

Can I just pretend the vast majority of their WWE main roster time didn't exist and they went straight from owning NXT to AEW and the indies?

They’re proof as to how much Vince drops the ball on talented performers.

For years, the E should have been using their deep roster to their advantage to have compelling weekly shows that actually mean something.

Have title feuds, have personal feuds, have matches that actually build up stars. Have tag team divisions and six-person divisions for both males and females. Make your performers look important. Make me not want to change the channel even when your show is on. Use your talent.

I’m typically busy when AEW is on, so I don’t get to see all of the show, but I’ve watched the last few weeks. And while some of the stuff misses the mark, it keeps my attention. I’m finding myself, surprise, actually having fun watching it instead of it being a bore and almost like a chore.

You mean FTR wasn't better off rubbing ointment on each other's backs, seconding Baron Corbin and being presented a gimmick of basically being Flavor Flav cosplayers?

Wow. The reasons why it's now are pretty obvious, but I still don't think anyone ever thought we'd see this day without him being in a coffin. Wonder if he goes the way of Bear Bryant and JoePa, and is dead by next year now that his life's passion is gone?

Or, in a real twist, he's pushed out of WWE and his next tweet is that VKM is All Elite.

i mean whats retired? If hes not forced to sell hes still principal owner? Not running day to day creative is a MASSIVE shift but we’ll see if he ends up popping up and influencing stuff just like Pat Patterson after his many “retirements” right?

Same day HHH comes back, “officially.” Hard to think Dunn’s long for the joint. HBK’s NXT vision will get a lot of consideration too, I bet. People shit on 2.0 as a Vince thing but its Shawn thru and thru and he’s got the trust of the big man now

    New: Vince remains majority shareholder.

    Stephanie: Chairwoman and co-ceo
    Nick Kahn: co-ceo
HHH: EVP talent relations (hed lost that for some other bs title before his heart issues so safe to say Johnny Ace is buried)
