Yup. East can easily start on Tuesday on TNT with NBA West starting on ESPN. No need for these extra days off.

Because the players absolutely don’t deserve a few days to rest and recover from tough series in a very physical game?

The East teams have had three days off already. The West series should start Thursday at the latest

Panthers advanced on Friday, so that would be three days off.

Hurricanes advanced on Thursday, so that would be four days off.

Now it's five and six days off.

So what y’all are saying is that all 4 teams have enough time to recover?

    I don’t see a downside here.

I feel absurd making a Coyotes post on a playoff thread, but...

The public vote for a new arena in Tempe is going down in flames, based on early returns.

Portland? Houston? Quebec City? You're on the clock. Make those offers now...

    There isn't one.

The big question is if Teuvo Teravainen is ready to return. Mo and the Staal brothers were already storylines, of course.

Yikes. With all due respect to PCLL and anyone else in the area, the best thing might be to move this organization.

Does Alex Meruelo have ties to the area? And will he actually pay his bills, no matter where the team ends up?

    Oh, they've got to go.

I've always maintained that the team could succeed with an arena in the right location, and this would have been it. They couldn't make it happen and they don't seem to have any realistic plan B. It's time to leave, and Bettman sounds resigned to that.

Meruelo does not have ties to the area. He started out in California and has businesses all over the country.

And no, I suspect he won't pay his bills wherever they end up. Not his style. I think this loss lies squarely at his feet. As arena projects go this wasn't a bad deal for the city. The Tempe city council was expected to approve this deal on its own... and then we found out Meruelo wasn't paying his bills in Glendale, and that it's standard practice for him. That seemed to push the city council into sending it to a public vote instead of approving it on their own. There was a lot of positives to the project from a public standpoint, but I think a lot of people figured that if the Coyotes ownership was behind it they were probably going to get screwed. And, I mean.... yeah.

Having grown up in a state that got its hockey team yanked away, I feel bad for Coyotes fans. But seeing that smarmy condescending prick Gary Bettman, who hasn't done a single good thing for hockey for 30 fucking years now, end up w/egg on his face is always nice. (Of course, he's still got his stupid sun belt semifinals) Especially today, when this gushing puff piece dropped with the expectation the Coyotes arena vote would pass. Ooopsie!
