Formerly of San Jose State and Colorado. Didn't know he was in Fla.

Guess their buyout obligation isn’t much, either.

Man, I can't imagine wanting to go to Temple. I mean, being a D1 HC is a goal but would you really think Temple is where you want to go? I think I'd go to Purdue before Temple.

    MacIntyre is still around? Wow.

Mizzou factions wanted a “true son” who didn’t cost much. They got what they wanted, and it did not go well.

The original sin was firing Warren Powers, which begat Woody and ushered in 20-plus years of suck. That period helped develop or harden Mizzou fans’ fatalism and pessimism, which continues to this day.

The big problem is that those of us of a certain age remember it wasn’t always so. Remember the Orange Bowl when that meant something. Remember being the best hoops program in the league. Remember and mourn the death of the Big Eight.

We’re stuck in the past. Just once in my life, I hope to see a football or hoops national title. I fear I won’t live long enough to see either.

    Purdue should hire Jason Candle.

Yeah, he has a pretty good life in Toledo, I suspect.

So move to Indiana, get a big raise, and fuck your life up completely.

In an era marked by unlimited player transfer rights, unlimited financial compensation, diminished value of actual education and gutless institutional cowering, Wake Forest is absolutely at a disadvantage. Clawson is a great coach. But Purdue is really a lateral move at best. Clawson is in a tough spot. Purdue might be a safe haven, but that's all it would be.

Temple is a double no-go zone. A place where 1. Fans and media don't give a shit about you; 2. Expectations for success are way out of whack within the administration.

For a while there, it was a pretty good stepping stone.

If I'm Jason Candle, I tell my agent that if Purdue calls that he's to laugh hysterically at them and hang up while still laughing.

Hayden Fry went 3-8 in his last season at Iowa in ‘98, and his loaded team in ‘97 limped to a 7-5 finish. He retired on his own terms but any Hawkeye fan would tell you he stayed a year too long. Iowa went 1-10 and 3-9 in Kirk Ferentz’s first 2 years as head coach…

This is all so very true, especially so for those of us who covered Woody and Stull and Dr Detroit.
