They certainly have all the parts to win. That’s a pretty complete team today. And yet, Mizzou beat them at their place.
Rick Pitino wins the Big East. A great year continues for 70-something Queens men who would have been disgraced into anonymity a generation ago.
Yaxel Lendeborg with 23/13/4/2/2 (and no turnovers) today against North Texas. That's his fifth straight AAC tournament double double, and his 22nd double double on the season, a UAB record. Memphis tomorrow for the 'ship. Not holding my breath, Memphis is way more talented and deep.
Mt. St. Mary's is dancing. Hope the coach sports a bow tie at the play-in game as a tribute to the late Jim Phelan.
Between the Michigan and Akron wins on coast-to-coast lay-ups in the final seconds, today has been sponsored by screaming at your TV “STOP THE BALL!”
Going to be interesting to see who gets the latest two Dayton assignments after Saint Francis & the SWAC winner. MEAC champ Norfolk State is a top-200 team in KenPom and traditionally very good, so the committee should spare them (plus, it allows them to say they're not racist), so it probably comes down to the Mount, American, & SIUE, Had Iona and Delaware won their titles, we'd already have the Dayton field set.
The PAC-12’s induced coma means there is an extra at-large slot. And 68 teams is already four too many. So if your team still can’t reach the promised land with those extra chances, I don’t feel particularly sorry for you.
Really only two potential bid thieves today -- George Mason and UAB. I think Memphis and VCU are both in regardless of what happens. You can probably pencil the Ivy champ in on a 14 line, maybe 13 if it's Yale. Tennessee and Florida are probably playing for the last 1 seed.
Memphis yes. Not sure re: VCU. I am confident that the committee is pulling for the Rams so it can be spared a decision.
