VCU rebounds missed and potentially game-tying 3FGA, appears to dribble out the clock and claim a three-point win. But wait. VCU was fouled with 0.5 seconds left. They must shoot FTs. The guy makes both. The final margin is five. The spread was 4.5. Of course it was.
Florida just has to avoid the three dog-shit performances during the regular season. Losing to Missouri at home, getting blown out by Georgia and Tennessee (both road games), even though the score got a lot closer in the Ga game. Those just can't happen. This last couple of weeks have been impressive as all get out and I'm hoping to enjoy three full weekends of the tournament!
Nearly every team has one or two bad performances in a 30-something-game lead up to the NCAA tournament. It's everybody's fear. And, sure, there is precedent for a team as hot as Florida failing. But these Gators are good. I like them for San Antonio.
That was a fucking big boy game. Physical as shit. Also, VCU was 0-4 this season in games decided by three or fewer points. And they still are!
That VCU game was so much more stressful than it needed to be. Happy it’s out of the committee’s hands.
W&M's women's team was the #9 seed at the CAA tournament and won the title to become the first Indians/Tribe men's or women's team to make the NCAA tournament, with a 15-18 record. They will be in the play-in game and then be total cannon fodder for a #1 seed if they somehow win. But, congrats, they got there. I've always respected W&M, they don't cheat, don't seem to fudge on academics, athletes seem happy there and Cary Field is a great place to watch a football game. They've been successful in football, their complete basketball futility always surprised me.
Wisconsin missed about 60 3-pointers but still leads Michigan 23-21 at halftime of the B1G championship game. If these are the league’s two best teams, don’t expect anyone from the B1G in this year’s Final Four.
Too lazy to look it up, but today’s game reminds me of a Michigan State-Wisconsin slugfest in a B1G tournament game circa 2000. I don’t think either team had 20 points at intermission.
Was that the Final Four game that year, when Sparty led the Badgers 19-17 at halftime? Michigan State also beat them in the B1G tournament that year, a 55-46 scoring orgy.
