Speaking of Kent, mediocre D3 Heidelberg almost beat them the other day. Heidelberg led with a couple minutes left.

Jackson State over Alcorn State in a battle of winlesses.

Canisius is the only other squad without a win.

I miss Sagarin, even though there are plenty of other services out there.

Mark your calendar for 11 a.m. CST on Feb. 8 because that's when the last 2 current undefeated teams in D-I CBB will play — Tennessee at Oklahoma.

There can be only one and by that point it's likely there will be none.

    Or the little-known double gravity.

The SEC is going to be brutal to each other in league play. So many good teams. Alabama-Tennessee will be must-see TV. Mizzou, absolutely a good team, lost by 16 at Auburn, and it wasn't really that close in the second half.

There may be multiple No. 1 seeds with 8 or more Ls.
It is what the ACC used to be. Better, perhaps.

About that … Sooners falling out of orbit fast in T-Town.

Three weeks from today is No. 1 Tennessee at No. 2 Auburn. That will be the game of the year.

Defiance is the in-state patsy to schedule this time of year. Ohio did it last year. Toledo and Miami did it this year. Guaranteed 60-point win.

Maybe. But those ‘Bammers can flat out guard your ass. And their offense can be freaky good.

Remember how Texas got almost the easiest football schedule imaginable? The league office was far less kind to hoops.

    • At No. 13 A&M tonight (20 point loss)
    • No. 2 Auburn
    • No. 1 Tennessee
    • At No. 12 Oklahoma
    • At. No. 6 Florida
All of that before Inauguration Day.

I’m not convinced Mizzou is that good; Gates has yet to prove to me last year’s oh-fer was an aberration.
