    And it rained,
    Nothing really new
    And it blew,
    Seen all that before
    And it poured,
    The earth began to strain
    Pontchartra-a-a-a-a-ain
Buried the 9th Ward to the second floor

And forever strengthened South Florida building codes.

DO NOT buy a house there built before 1993.

Unless it's a concrete block building from before the disco era and built on the west side of the Turnpike.

In our area, it's pre/post '96 with Bertha and Fran.
There are still a couple of ground-built, single level, flat-roofed cinder block houses built probably in the late '50 or early '60s that are still going strong.

Peak day is traditionally Sept. 10.

Things may finally be cranking up.
The National Hurricane Center’s forecast map Thursday showed five separate lemon-yellow circles for potential storm formation. However, none of those storms listed a development potential over 30% for the next seven days, and meteorologists say the absence of tropical storms and hurricanes may continue for at least the next several days.

You may wish to get your eyes checked.

I did see a couple of invests popped up yesterday, but one looked pretty fishy and the other was too close to the coast to be anything but a beneficial rainmaker.

That looks like some sort of play Dean Smith might have drawn up back in the Four Corners era.

Well, Smith was still coaching when Fran hit, so that crap can stay out in the ocean.

On another note, I do love my hurricane/SEC states.
This time last week, I was in NC. Today I am in Tenn. Tomorrow I will travel through Ga. to go broadcast a football game in Ala. only to sleep Saturday night in Miss.
