Being hired to coach exactly one player. No, not that one. His son.

I wanna' see him losing his shit on NBA players and refs like he does at UCONN.

I also love the conspiracy theory that Coach K, who is leading the Lakers search committee, picked Hurley so as to keep him from eclipsing Coach K’s records.

I realize he may need a new challenge, but Hurley going to the NBA seems very odd.

He's potentially going from one of the best college jobs to, by some standards, the worst pro job. That says something about coaching college basketball (well, maintaining a college basketball roster) right now.

He'd be a fool to go to the Lakers. I know the portal exists, but UConn will dominate that league for as long as it wants to. It's the state's pro team, so money is flowing in.

I'm guessing the Auriemma extension was done knowing this was a good possibility he's bolting.

If they offer over $40m or more he should jump - odds are he'll be back in college within three years and make even more bank.

As a Lakers fan I love it. Though I had talked myself into Redick leading them to a title as well. Just as I talked myself into Riley, Dunleavy, Pfund, Magic, Harris, Rambis, Phil, Rudy, Phil, Brown, D'Antoni, Scott, Walton, Vogel and Ham.

I think college coaches get a bit of a bum rap. Yeah, lot of flameouts but there are some exceptions and, hey, the winningest coach in history was an intense college coach: Pop.

Woj obviously has good sourcing within the Hurley family since his book. This is of course another fun chapter in the Shams-Woj war too since Shams had Redick all but hired. It is funny seeing other NBA insiders on Twitter this morning. At 6 a.m. none of them had any idea about Hurley and the Lakers being a possibility. Two hours later they all have amazing sourcing saying he probably won't take it. Sure, fellas.

And this is deep in the woods of crazy Laker fandom but there has long been a conspiracy among fans that Woj hates the Lakers because Pelinka doesn't leak to him. So now those folks are thinking Woj revealing this now is to make the Lakers look bad because if Hurley turns them down it again makes the organization look like losers. I'm just the messenger.

Is Hurley temperamentally fit for the NBA and its schedules of ~ 100 games including playoffs?
