What stunned me is the detail that the Blazers were over the luxury cap. For what?

 

Up until last year they had been trying to compete with a roster that included Dame Lillard. They had to take back contracts with that trade, and still had a bunch of well-paid guys on a bad roster.

It's hard to shed all that money in a hurry.
