    Dear Jim,

Keeping Mike McCarthy is an incredibly smart move as he would have been unemployed for about five minutes. We all heard that on FOX on Sunday.

    Signed,

    The other 31 teams

When Gruden was on the telly (which seems like a million years ago), he used to say McCarthy was the best playcaller in the league to Sean Payton.

McCarthy can win 11-12 games a year and then lose in the playoffs, rinse and repeat.

It’s not only with coaches. He does it with players, too. In part because he is loyal to a fault, but mostly because he can’t bring himself to publicly admit he made a mistake.

There’s a blurb in the Athletic today that no sale is expected before 2025 because there would somehow be a massive tax hit.

There definitely is that. I know the Bowlen family had a huge tax hit when they finally sold the Broncos. It's definitely a big thing.

So, just ignore those last play in the games vs. the 49ers the previous two seasons?

    Cowboys fan weighing in.

As soon as McCarthy took Lamb off the field and rolled out a jumbo set to run the ball on Dallas second offensive okay, I was very worried. All season long he’s seemed a little too comfortable to set up third down as a must-make passing situation. He needed to get Dak throwing right away, high percentage stuff to settle him in.

Anyway, I listened to the Matt Mosley/Ed Werder Doomsday pod at dawn Monday. They seemed to be thinking Jerry would make a move. On Bill Simmons pod, he and Cousin Sal (Dallas fan) assumed McCarthy was gone. To complete the pod circuit, Werder was on with Peter King who advocated for a firing.

After listening to Werder talk about the Parcells era, which Jerry hated, I am officially convinced winning isn’t his true priority. Jerry wants a winning team, but he also wants an atmosphere where he has free run of the facility, talking to the players in the weight room, all that stuff. Beers with Mike after a win.

Jerry probably has the best jock pedigree of any majority owner, and it’s like he still wants to be part of the locker room. And I think he’s not willing to give that up in his last years.

He’s also always been very cheap about paying coaches and he would hate paying MM to sit at home.

I’m very experienced with wills/estates etc.

The clauses in the will likely give her very broad discretionary powers to hold the asset as she sees fit. What we like to call “the executor’s year” wouldn’t apply.

It’s also been my experience that charitable beneficiaries are fairly easy going. They don’t like to appear greedy (although they do retain top shelf counsel)

Thanks. I have some pretty good experience with them, but not digging deeper like that. I had many talks with our lawyer to get a grasp of how it's run. I certainly asked a lot of questions and she was/is very patient with me but I obviously have a firmer understanding of it today.

And, yeah, what's a charitable organization going to do? File a lawsuit and demand she execute the will so we can get our money? As you say, they don't like to appear greedy, but at some point -- execute the will.

Bob Kraft did letter in lightweight football at Colombia, as Dan Shaughnessy liked to remind people ad nauseum.
