    Yes, if they go into LTIR leaves them no cap space to add players later on. Teams in LTIR can’t accrue cap space. A team that starts the year with even a million in caps space will be able to add a player Making around 4 to 5 mill come the trade deadline. This is why teams will do as much as they can to abound being in LTIR.

    Canucks just gave up a 4th and retained 20% salary to Colorado to take a player that will never play again but this keeps them out of LTIR.
