That is a spot that was fairly typical in the late 90’s, but it is exceptionally rare now because of advanced research in brain trauma. Multiple contacts in AEW confirmed that it was a gimmicked chair, but out of respect to the match and those involved–wrestling exists in a perpetual was-it-real realm–neither would discuss the moment in too much detail.

They didn’t need to do a headshot with the chair. Just keep work jabbing Perry in the ribs with the side of the chair. Maybe even have him spit up some “blood” due to “internal bleeding.” Keep torturing him, then do the “gas” spot.

Build up some psychological suspense instead of just doing a violent spot.

Oh, and they really should have done something that would have put the EVP’s jobs on the line. Even set up a “If I win, so get the title and you have to quit your job” match.

No Orton, no Owens at Cody's side. If only there was someone to help even the odds against Bloodline 2.0.

Maybe we get Jimmy (and possibly Jey, because he's too big of a character to not have anything around SummerSlam) to screw over the Bloodline in the tag match against DIY, then Roman w/ Heyman in Solo/Cody?

Tonight: the Biographies on DiBiase and Heyman.

DiBiase was pretty simple but good. Needless to say, Ted Jr. was conspicuously absent -- guess he couldn't make some time out of waiting for the feds to send him to prison.

Heyman's was understandably great. Great to see all the hustling he did to make his way to the top. Enjoyed seeing more than the usual ECW and Lesnar/Bloodline clips.
