The ownership group in Atlanta says hold our beers. That consortium went from muddled confusion to chaos to dysfunction over the course of the decade there.

And Waddell had built a nice one-two punch with Kovalchuk and Heatley, until Heatley decided to turn Buckhead into an F1 course. Who knows what might have happened had those two remained a Thrashers duo.

I'll grant you Waddell was put in a tough position when Time Warner sold to Atlanta Spirit.

Waddell and Tulsky have done great work in Carolina. One of the best run organizations in the game.

Florida is a better team than the Rangers. They are relentless on the forecheck and they are like lumberjacks putting an axe to a redwood.

For the Rangers to win, they need to keep the intensity they brought to that game, with very few letdowns, for the entire series. They are not built that way, the way Florida is, but if they want a Stanley Cup they are going to have to dig deep. That was a great game. It's funny seeing all the naysayers on Barclay Goodrow in the Rangers groups do a 360 on him. He scored four goals this year, and I think several of them were empty netters. And he earns a lot for the role he plays. But in a tense game, he is a great penalty killer, he's defensively responsible, he wins faceoffs, and he doesn't wilt when the other team is out there hitting. So you like having him.

Then, he scores a goal like that?

Tavares ties it 2-2 on a power play with 2:07 left in regulation.
