Flores deserves a second shot based on his merits. There are very few people who have his resume and he's only 43.

Jared Goff isn't exactly Steve Dils, but I'd rather take my chances on Ben Johnson after he worked with Goff than with any of the OCs who rode a superstar's coat tails. Looking at you, Brian Daboll.

Flores was in an ugly situation in Miami, but I wonder if he was too young when he got that job. Maybe he's a great defensive coordinator who can't handle being a head coach, or maybe he just needed more experience to take that step. I'm honestly not sure which it is, but yeah, on merit he should get another shot.

he may have been too young, but he went 5-11, 10-6, 9-8 and his skill position guys outside of Tua were garbage (the overall rosters weren't great)
There's a lot of teams that would love a guy who could get them those results over the next three years.

He had some success despite taking over a terrible team and being stuck with an idiot owner. Maybe my perception of him was off after listening to Ryan Fitzpatrick, who ripped into Flores recently.

I'm among many in the Steelers' fan base who wish the Steelers had kept him as defensive coordinator instead of Austin, but I'm not sure how much control any defensive coordinator has had under Tomlin since they forced Dick LeBeau out. Tomlin brought Flores in after that mess with the Dolphins.

If you're going that route, might as well interview Pat Fitzgerald. Is a name in the market, won at Northwestern and the hazing stuff is small potatoes compared to what happens in the NFL.

Reminder that Flores went 9-8 after he started the season 0-7. Tua bitches about how horrible of a coach he was, but the team didn't quit on him.

Fitzpatrick ripped Flores for becoming dictatorial and no longer listening and relating to others. A serious question. How many successful NFL coaches are inclusive in their decision and interpersonal relations and how are doctatorial?

Jerry is setting it up to ram home the empty bottle of Johnny Walker Blue and break it off.

Two reasons he's doing this: 1) He's taking a potential coaching foe off the table for a year at least; 2) He's got designs on Darth Hoodie.

He's gonna have to wait until June 1 or it'll cost the Hoodie -- and by extension Jones -- $10,000,000. I would be exceptionally amused if the Hoodie quit UNC before coaching a single game, but I don't think it'll happen.
