Honestly, fishhack, the commentary here was what made the episode enjoyable, IMO.

I thought I read it was four years after last season. I think Jack's granddaughter is older than two years old.

Sutherland at one point said that this season's events aren't too far removed from last season, but apparently they changed that.

Might be the last of Jack Bauer's shitty days, too.

 

The granddaughter has to be 3 or 4. Can't recall, was she already born last season?

AV Club writers and commenters are convinced she cut off the Russian's thumb. What the hell good would that do (aside from establishing the "bitch crazy" storyline)?

There was definitely a thumb and partial hand on the floor.

 

Jack's granddaughter was a year or less last season. So she's either a very tall and bright 3 or 4 year old or they simply glossed over President Taylor getting re-elected, being in the midst of a re-election campaign, or a lame-duck president if it's been 4 years or more.

 

Considering the jump probably an average of two years between seasons, I wonder what year it's actually suppossed to be? Jack should be using a walker and the police should have lazer guns and flying cars.
