    I thought so. :D

And they don't know if there's going to be a ninth season, at least yet. Sutherland's contract runs through this season only, and there are rumors floating around that the show could continue on without him and most likely featuring Prize Jr.'s character or Renee Walker in Jack's role.

That might work. I like what I see of Freddie Prinze Jr. so far.

Just finished watching last night's episode.

What's the over-under on how many episodes Hastings makes it through before being fired or fragged?

We're wasting our time trying to figure out what year it is on 24. Exec producer Howard Gordon told the NY Post in the cover story to this week;s TV Week (can't find a link at the NYP site) that there will be no mention of the 9/11 attacks in NYC b/c "...the show really exists in an alternate universe."

    No shit, really?

Yeah... an alternate universe where the only terrorists are MOOSLIMS.

And way to go on casting Indians as the Iranians, too.

I didn't bother to go through all 11 pages so I hope I'm not repeating what lots of others have said. I just finished watching last night and had a few thoughts:

    1. The first four hours was worth it to see Renee Walker go crazy in the last minute of episode 4. I can't wait to see where her mental slide takes her.
    2. I've said this every season for the last four or five years, but at this point in the show, based on everything he's done for the US government and CTU, how can anyone ever question or second-guess anything Jack Bauer ever says?
    3. I hate this Hastings guy. His character is annoying as hell. Based on all his lousy decisions in four hours, I fail to see how he got to this point of his career.

I'm just glad to see that Wolfman Jack has come back to life and is running an unnamed Middle Eastern country.

We-the-viewers had more information than Hastings. He could only go with what he had: a retired operative and a flaky, behind-the-times analyst vs. what seemed to be solid evidence.

  9. One nugget that I'm surprised no one has mentioned from Monday's episode. When Chloe tells Hastings she hasn't heard back from Jack, Hastings says "Maybe his cell phone battery died or he's in an area with no reception. That happens all the time here."

I think that was an inside tip of the cap to all the 24 watchers who joke how Jack's cell phone never dies and always finds a signal. Make me chuckle after he said it.

  10. If I'm Hastings, every time I dealt with Jack face-to-face, two things would be running through my mind at all times, which is why I would have shown him a great deal more respect when I found him taking guns out of the armory. First, I would realize that Grandpa Jack just buried an axe (an axe!) into a guy's chest less than an hour ago. Second, I would recall from Jack's file that he once shot his boss, execution-style, in the forehead in an abandoned train yard. I would never refer to Jack as anything other than 'Sir.'

My prediction: Tech dude who runs the drones is the inside-CTU guy (you know there is one) and he found out about Starbuck's other life (because, you know, he's a hacker), and is using that to get her distracted whilst he does bad things.

The show should end with Jack. No one else should have the main role. I want to see Jack go out on top and stay out of the game forever. That's how the show should end. There has to be a way they can write this. Maybe Jack boarding that plane for LA. He's talked about it in the first four hours and hopefully it'll get mention throughout the rest of the day. Or maybe... maybe... they throw us a loop and they change the famous time sequence. Like Jack ends this shit at 5 p.m. tomorrow and goes home to finish packing or something. The clock comes up on the screen... 5:XX whatever p.m. Screen goes black, we see Jack at the airport the following morning, clock is ticking at 7:06 a.m. or something as he boards that plane.
