24 Season Finale: WE ARE OUT OF TIME!!!

The newspaper the next day would be Nuke Blast Rocks SoCal stripped above the masthead

with siders such as: Prez. Palmer injured in related attack; Officials say terror suspects found; and "Idol" producers vow the show must go on....

 

In the NY Daily News, A-1 would be 'Will Joe Go?' with a picture of Torre, and a small ref over the mast to the turmoil in Cali.

Oh, and there would be a ref at the bottom--'Read Jack Bauer's BLOG online.'

I heard a rumor that for season 5 or 6, the producers wanted to buy the rights to the DaVinci Code and have Jack as the main character trying to solve the mystery. Brian Grazer is a producer on both, but couldn't convince Dan Brown to do it.

Honestly, I would've loved to see that. I just need something to be outside of LA and CTU.

 

The Daily News would also have quotes from President Palmer's spokesman, Howard Rubenstein.

"President Palmer is as strong as an ox. The reason he passed out was because he couldn't take not lifting weights. I just watched him benchpress a whale. I have no idea where these stories of his infirmity are coming from. He is not near death. He is stronger than ever. He is fine."

 

I got involved for the first time this season. I said it before...it turned out to be like a Bruce Willis movie. The terrorist story should have been extended. These last three weeks were a complete and utter bore. Memo to Fox: I won't get reeled in next year.

 

Though it happened too early, I did enjoy the scene where Jack killed seven terrorists -including Fayed- in about a three minute span. And then Doyle's reaction upon seeing the dead bodies... "Jesus, Jack."

 

It seems to me the writers/producers entered this season figuring they'd kill off Jack...then chickened out. Doyle certainly seemed to be the heir apparent on the show. Then he's blinded by the light.

The only place left for 24 to go is to kill Jack. This year was the perfect time to do so. Whacking him in the middle of the year would have been an appropriate fate for the guy who thought he was going to die on this mission. Next year, when there's no one left from the core cast? not so much.

 

I don't think the idea of killing Jack was ever seriously considered. Lose Jack, lose the series. Jack Bauer is 24.

Now they might kill him in the series finale, but not before then. When they killed Tony, Palmer and all of the rest of the main characters last year, they wiped out any possibility of the series running without Bauer.

At least I wouldn't watch it.

 

And don't forget the movie that's in the works.

They're leaving us a lot of holes to fill in when that comes out.
