It was nice for people to see how sweet and classy Martina is. Sadly a lot of people that followed that rivalry just thought of her as a big gay commie monster that abused the little cute blond American chick.

But I didn't hate Evert. I think she was honest and genuine and sometimes honesty isn't always nice. But she admits her flaws.

And I think it was one of the best 30 for 30s yet. Nice to relive that rivalry and hear about a lot of the issues they went through.

It seemed a little clunky, but Martina carried it. The last 15 minutes were not the best, and the lets talk about boys just seemed labored.

Evert can bring up Martina going on a double date with, but Greg Norman is not mentioned?

It would have been better without Chris, and Evert looked terrible. Either her makeup was messed up or she had just done an acid wash and looked like a zombie. We were told back then that Evert was the "real" person, but looking back, Navratilova seemed to be much more genuine.

My wife really liked Chris/Martina show. That was right in her wheelhouse as far as what she did/was into growing up. During the whole show she kept talking about how she hated Martina at the time.

I thought it was interesting but didn't really care. I can't wait for the upcoming one on Tim Richmond.

I kind of like the clunky parts of it. It almost seemed spontaneous. I'm with you on some of the forced sexuality conversation but the part about Evert banging her future husband on Martina's bed is pretty funny if only because in one sense he went where no man had ever gone before...and probably gone since.

I always liked Martina, I started watching right around the time the guard between her and Evert was changing and Martina was the most ass-kicking athlete on Earth during that 3-4 year period.

It was co-directed by Steve Nash. Had its premiere at TIFF the other night

The Evert-Navratilova episode was really, really good. I liked the "Thelma and Louise" driving scenes, the conversations over wine. About how they hit together hours before the French Open Final. The compliments to each other. Can you imagine Serena being that gracious to an opponent?

Martina comes across as maybe the classiest, most likeable female athlete I've ever seen. How come we didn't know this before?

The only negative was knowing about how Evert dicked over Mill to get together with Greg Norman.

    Venus?

Of course Evert, by her own admission, was never that gracious with an opponent during her time on the court. It took 20+ years for that to happen.

So lets not compare apples to beef jerky.

I loved the Martina-Chris episode. Martina does outstanding work for the Tennis Channel, perhaps the best of any tennis analyst. And her life story really is unbelievable.

    Just watched the Martina-Chris 30/30.

    Wow. Just wow.

I also grew up during the Martina is the Evil Lesbian vs. Chrissie is shilling Lipton Tea Sweetness era.

They are both so similar and I found myself even angry at how they were portrayed during their early 80's showdowns.

Martina just oozes, OOZES, class. Even in a language that isn't her first language, she can disarm just about any criticism or snide comment with a roll of the eyes and say, "that's what you may think...", flash a half-smile and know she just took care of it.

Chris is vulnerable, perhaps still stuck with the burden of being The Darling for so long -- having run into the rough patch where she lost to Martina 14 times in a row before her final chapter at the French Open.

We've seen Martina make the smooth transition into broadcasting and other pursuits, post-tennis. We mostly see Chris unable to keep a husband...

Very comfortable and enjoyable. I laughed quite a bit. I had no idea they were so close.

I'm surprised, frankly, that so many men here enjoyed it and "got" it. Good on you fellas.

I met Martina several times as a kid and as a reporter. She's one of the classiest athletes ever.

Yeah, we stopped scratching our balls and chugging beers for a few minutes, and put down the latest issues of FHM and Maxim to watch it.
