Same here with a third hour of just Skip, Galloway, Norm, and Dale Hansen talking about SMU and the Cowboys, if they wanted to.

Did they ever ask James in the doc if he took money? They clearly asked Dickerson. I don't think they asked James, but I missed the last 25 minutes.

I think James mentioned a dollar figure in passing, when they were throwing around the wild recruiting stories, but I'm not sure he was talking about an offer from SMU.

I was surprised how candid some of those guys were. I guess a lot of it was already in the public record, but they seemed pretty open about saying, "this guy got this much," or "I was offered this much by this school and that much by that school."

James' stuff was mostly him being excited about how good the team was. Considering the fact he denied everything in his autobiography, and also the fact he's an ESPN employee, I wonder if it even went beyond a quick question and denial.

Who knows? Maybe in the midst of other major recruits getting paid, one of the star running backs chose SMU solely because of his girlfriend.

Hell, I'll bet SMU paid his girlfriend.

This link posted a few pages back makes it pretty clear that James was very closely linked to Sherwood Blount, using Blount as his agent during his playing days and working in Blount's real estate office during the offseason.

Sure James never got any money. Right.

Considering the role he played in Mike Leach's firing (hiring the swiftboaters' PR firm to dig up dirt on Leach), James has no integrity about anything as far as I'm concerned.

They made Blount seem like the second coming of Beelzebub.

I really wish ESPN would require its on-air talent to be upfront about if they got paid in college or not, and PEDs. I'm sure Corso and Herbstreit know stuff. They don't have to snitch or anything, just be open about their own experiences. Give them amnesty, whatever. They have enough former basketball and football players on the payroll. Instead, it looks like they are trying to facilitate the image of college and pro athletics being squeaky clean.
Would their ratings drop? Maybe. But they would come back.

Kinda like how John Kruk always pleaded ignorant about steroids, even though half his 1993 Phillies teammates were named in the Mitchell Report.

The long-prevailing punchline is that James took a pay cut to play for New England.

I think Corso was talking to James a couple years ago and they were taking about cheating or something and Corso said, "You would know about that Craig, since you played at SMU."

I don't remember the context of the conversation, but it was hilarious.
