It's not an ESPN film, but this should be interesting to watch:

  2. While it would appeal to a small audience, a good 30 for 30 could be made on the pro wrestling boom in the late 1990s. I know it's been done to a certain extent by WWE, but done from a different perspective, the potential for a great piece is there.

The tough part would be getting the WWE to cooperate, since a lot of the guys you'd want to talk to - Rock, Steve Austin, Jericho, Undertaker, Triple H - are either still employed by the WWE or maintain good relations. The WWE tends to be pretty paranoid and protectionist about its image.

Who's directing the Herren film? Having heard him speak at a high school, if they let him tell his story, it should be pretty compelling TV.

True. I'd rather see something on guys from the 80s (those that are still around). Probably would be pretty depressing.

Can't wait to see the Bartman and Charismatic episodes. Mrs. Bubbler LOVED Charismatic. Didn't hurt that she won some money off of him back in '99.

You might want to check out some of the shoot interviews floating around on the net. Some of them are pretty interesting, especially the ones with Laney Poffo (aka Macho Man's brother, aka the Genius) and Bobby Heenan.

will do that. every time i try to look for different stuff though i end up watching Iron Sheik a few more times. "Macho Man Randy Savage come to my room, drink my beer, smoke my marijuana." when Sheik went on Howard Stern and Artie Lange was Iron Sheik Jr. it may have been the funniest shit ever on radio.

I know it is not called 30 for 30 anymore, but watched a couple of the recent films. Bartman I thought was just OK. Same with the Morgan Spurlock film on the agents. The Renee Richards one I just found fascinating.

I'm annoyed that they changed the name around - my DVR isn't automatically recording them anymore, so I missed the Rene one, and it doesn't seem like they're repeating it as much as they did the other ones. I've queue up Catching Hell and the agents one, but I haven't had a chance to watch either yet. (Hard to find that 90 minutes to just clear out to focus on a good film.)

If it helps, more like 70-75 minutes once you FF through commercials (and I think the agents one was only 1 hour, minus commercials)

Too bad about the Charismatic. No new news for any racetrack regulars . . . a lot of padding and filler . . . and no recent direct filmed quotes from Lukas (a huge gap in the coverage) . . . and, yes, I'm sure they tried to get them.

For newbies, it's a sad story. Ant was a helluva rider, wtih a lot of enthusiasms, but chose poorly, as many do.
