What if I told you 30 for 30 needed a better ad campaign.

Jonathan Hock did the Herren film. He also did the one about Marcus Dupree.

I really enjoyed the Wepner one. Guy seems to have a great sense of self and his little nook in history.

Apropos of nothing, how fucking great a nickname is "The Bayonne Bleeder?" I'm not nostalgic for much in the sports world, but great nicknames is one of them.

I don't know. Why couldn't they have just called him C-Wep?

  7. The Unguarded 30 for 30 on Chris Herren was really good. Him talking about deciding to kill himself then getting a tap on the shoulder from someone who knew his mother who got him help was very powerful.

Jonathan Hock who directed Unguarded also wrote The Best That Never Was on Marcus Dupree 30 for 30.

Liked the Herron doc as well, although found it a little weird that is was co-sponsored by Jameson and was followed by poker.

Not necessarily to do with the Herren documentary, but on the same day that his Buick NCAA thing was shown during the Herren program, Tim Green resigns as coach.

Yeah, I listened to the Herren interview on Bill Simmons' podcast after watching Unguarded (which was fabulous), and Simmons joked that at this point Hock could come to ESPN and pitch a documentary about a tree in his backyard and they'd hand him a pile of money.

He also did "The Lost Son of Havana" about Luis Tiant, which I had recorded for a couple of weeks but never got around to watching before my DVR crashed.

  11. How long will it take for a Penn State scandal edition of 30 for 30 to ramp up? One Week in November would be good ideal for a title, starting from this past Sunday to the postgame aftermath of tomorrow's Nebraska-PSU game.

I missed the ESPN Films on Todd Marinovich tonight. Did anybody see it? Is it worth spending an hour and a half on?
