That looks like an unbelievably good lineup of subjects.

Cannot wait for Free Spirits. Been fascinated by the Silna's deal with the NBA for decades.

Tose was both, drunk and degenerate gambler. Wasn't he the assclown who got drunk, lost a lot of money and then tried to sue the casino for letting him gamble while intoxicated.

Enjoyed the Eddie Aikau 30 for 30 tremendously. They took a subject that I know little about (and care even less about), and made it compelling.

Airs tonight, "Free Spirits". 8 pm ET on the mothership.

Any old-school pro basketball fans here should love this, from what I've read.

I made it less than halfway with the Hawaiian piece, and I gave up, wasn't feeling it. Did I miss anything good?

Anybody else watch "Free Spirits?" Thought it was just OK. All the stuff about Marvin Barnes was pretty fascinating, but I wish they had spent more time on the fold/merger and less time on the day-to-day on-court minutiae. I guess the Silnas' refusal to participate (they're currently suing the NBA) hurt in that regard.

    Agreed, Steak.

I remember the USFL 30-for-30 three years ago and that done really well.

The "Free Spirits" was a bit...lacking.

I wish they would have gone further into the rest of the league. Too often, in TV news, we are told to go as "close" to a story as possible. In this case, a little more context at the start would have helped. It was too St. Louis-centric. Why did Utah fold? How many teams were at the apex of the league? Not a lot of that was really covered. It was more about wild times and less about the economics, which is fine. I just wanted a little more context.

Not having the Silnas hurt the doc substantially. That's the most fascinating part of it and the fact that they wouldn't or couldn't comment on the initial deal was very disappointing. I wanted to hear from them more than anyone else -- although Fly Williams was cool as hell.

Although, I can't help but wonder. They're received, what, $280 million dollars and that isn't enough?!? They're suing the league for more?

I did not watch but figured it would be the same rehashed stories of Marvin that have been told countless times. No doubt that Bob Costas was quoted right?

I did; agree with everything you stated above. Enjoyed the info regarding Don Adams' role on the team and quick Randy Denton glimpse. Denton's always fascinated me. A Duke white 7-footer with an afro.
