Wondering when newspapers will start to run blomos/teasers in the newspaper, and refer to the entire 2,000 word story online?

Over the past couple years, I've written a couple really long stories that had to be cut by a quarter, and I tried to tell the editors to cut what they want for the print edition, just run the whole thing online. They wouldn't do it. Cutting -- and by that I mean cutting just for space; trimming, tightening, everything else already had been done; We were down to the storytelling nuts and bolts -- the first story didn't bother me. But I lost some info in the second that was vital to the story. In fact I woke up the next morning and a reader already had emailed me, wondering what had happened during a certain part of the story.
