They had the Tupperware container handy, so the kid must have been feeling sick before they started. Hmmmm....maybe they should have considered not having him on camera.

How about not going on every single morning show? After such a traumatic experience, how about meeting with a therapist instead of getting your kids up well before dawn to talk to Daine Sawyer, etc?

For accuracy's sake, shouldn't he be BoxInTheAttic Boy instead of Balloon Boy?

Am I the only parent who chuckled when reading the first part of that statement?

You're right that they don't always know when to lie, but they certainly know how to do it.

"Hey, Falcon, as soon as they ask about this being a farce, puke..."

The wrath of the entire country is about to come down on those parents.

I don't think it was a hoax, but we live in a nation of conspiracy theorists.

It's gonna be brutal for these people.

I missed all of this while working yesterday, but having seen the CNN clip, it's pretty clear it's all fake. The father didn't know what to say once the kid said it was for the show & just rambled uncomfortably.

While driving home last night, I had Hannity on (I know, I know, the radio was already on the station). It's run on tape delay here, so the balloon boy story was being carried "live" even though it was long over.

In the coupe of minutes that I listened, a guy called up and said that based on the size of the balloon, (and the number of pounds that a cubic foot -- or yard --of helium could lift), it was only capable of lifting something like six pounds.

He said there was no way the boy was on board.

If dad built the thing, you have to think he knew how much weight it could lift.

Also, the fact that it got loose seems implausible and the video of it getting away looks to contain some pretty bad acting.

It was a failure on many levels: by the cops, the parents, the media. What a mess.

  11. When this is exposed as a hoax I hope the parents get the bill for the rescue attempt and subsequent hub-bub.

What's the going rate for a hub-bub these days?
